Seventy–Two Years and Beyond
With the installation of the ESOP, the name changed to Capture Technologies, Inc. and a new manager at the helm, my involvement was reduced to that of a Board Chairman. All this was done in the time frame I had promised myself, and Judith – to be retired within five years.
For the next eight years, we spent our winters RVing all over the United States and the southern Providences of Canada. Six months a year we spent our time, in Northern British Columbia; building our dream:
The River House Estate
During those eight years, Capture continued to grow revenue, take on new technologies and serve newer markets and customers. One of the main reasons we opted for an ESOP was, I wanted to take care of loyal long-time employees and not repeat the International Playtex fiasco. As the Board Chairman, it has been my commitment to be available, in difficult times, and that calling has come twice since the ESOP’s inception. The first time was when a President departed, and the other was after a disastrous acquisition which began in 2018. The first time resulted in three years of mentoring and advising and since the failed acquisition, I have been involved as of May of 2019.
Both of these events have made me rethink the upper-level management role for an ESOP company. Consequently, I have been working on a model where each department-manager report to the Board comprised of experienced businessmen – proficient and willing to guide and mentor. It has taken well over a year to put the pieces together and this experiment will start at the beginning of Capture’s new fiscal year on October 1st.
Now that the seventy-two-year history has been reviewed, we will start to blog about products and services that Capture Technologies, Inc. currently offers and how they may be of interest to you.
