The World is Unfolding Continued...

One of the many lessons COVID 19 has given us is that it is possible, with today’s amazing technologies, to run many aspects of a small business remotely. IMO, amongst the many unanswered questions about remotely managing a business is, how well can it be managed?

The old school methodology of “walking your business” seems to leave a lot to be desired while only managing remotely. In a small business, welcoming employee in the morning, as they come to work, and thanking them for their hard work, when they depart, may be possible with remote workers, however, certainly awkward.

Relationship building with employees is not only important but doing so in an office environment, IMO, offers so much more opportunities than when they work remotely. Seeing them in the parking lot can spark a conservation and a quick glance inside their car can tell you volumes about their organization skillsets. Observing their office or workspace can also give you many insights and paths to relationship building. Family pictures are conversation starters, as are favorite sports team hats or banners.

When interacting on Teams or Zoom meetings, it is seemly different: face always smiling at the center of the screen with a favorite backdrop or a small section of a high wall or ceiling.

Stay tuned… more to come on where we’ve been, where we are headed, and updates and information on our products, services, and game plan to grow and thrive in these still uncertain times.
