It’s not just high schools or colleges that are getting security systems anymore. Schools of all sizes are upgrading and signing up for new security solutions to ensure the safety of the students. With the shootings at Virginia Tech last week and another school shooting incident yesterday in Texas, schools are looking for the best possible security solutions. Security solutions at Virginia Tech proved to be simply, not enough. So now the question is: how can schools prevent crime from happening?
While some schools are under lock and key with metal detectors and various other security devices, there are a few things that you can do to quickly and easily protect your school from harm. While crime may still occur, placing IP Dome Cameras in the hallways and on school grounds can help deter crime from happening in the first place.
According to the Times Republican, Miller Middle School and Marshalltown High School are now experiencing a full upgrade. Their security system will be a series of cameras that will be installed on Christmas break for the children. School officials said they won’t be monitoring the children all the time. They’re simply using the system to be able to watch an incident after the fact. First and foremost, it is put in place to deter vandalism, theft and, of course, for the safety of the children.
There is a lot of opposition when it comes to schools installing surveillance cameras, but most schools are ready for the install. According to the Washington Examiner, Fairfax, VA school board members are voting yes to install cameras in high school cafeterias and other high-traffic areas. Members agree that there are some areas in large schools that go unseen to staff members. They’d like to be able to see what actually goes on just in case of an incident.
However, security solutions are very different for every school. While some want to be able to watch students at all times of the day, others simply want to be able to catch graffiti being painted on a wall. Whatever your concerns are, surveillance cameras provide an added feeling of comfort for the schools that decide to use them.
