If IP video surveillance wasn’t easy before, it certainly is now. The mobile application created by Milestone Systems allows security personnel to view camera activity with any smartphone or tablet. The app, called XProtect Mobile, will be a sigh of relief for those who are constantly glued to monitors all day.
According to SecurityInfoWatch.com, the company has seen an increased demand for a mobile solution to video surveillance. Now, they’ve created one, and they’re certainly reeling in more customers. Christian Bohn, Milestone Systems’ vice president of marketing and product management said that although the process wasn’t easy, they found a strategy that kept their customers in mind.
Now they’ve created a fully integrated system, where this new mobile application can work with any of their Video Management Systems (VMS). This step in itself is perceived to be a step into the future for security technology. As other security technology firms have already released their mobile applications, this is one area where Milestone is doing business a little bit differently.
However, the entire process of making the app wasn’t as easy as it might seem. Milestone really fought to keep the customers in mind with the integration of their new app. For example, Milestone could actually be accessed through other mobile apps, just not as easily. With XProtect, it is easily integrated with the Smart Client software, which can access the main VMS servers from any type of monitoring device.
With these new steps in the right direction, Milestone is making new friends in different industries. Law enforcement has taken a special interest in their new application. With this new technology, police officers can have the ability to watch surveillance cameras wherever they might be.
Everything is going mobile. With changes to mobile VoIP and the smartphone industry, it’s not a big surprise to find out that this is where video security is headed as well. As technology advances, new mobile applications will make the industry stronger and hopefully, keep the people safer as well.
